Supporting local
artists
The birthplace of tomorrow’s artistic scenes, Lyon nightclub Le Sucre promotes the rich cultural fabric of the local area by supporting artists through project management and editorial services, equipping them with relevant tools and resources.
A the core of its programming is a close collaboration between young up-and-coming artists – who are often offered residencies at the venue – and established names, with much importance placed on artistic networking and the pooling of experience and skills. A firm believer in aesthetic diversity, Le Sucre also works with local collectives, which serve as hubs for particular communities and play an essential role in raising awareness among new audiences. Inviting them to use the rooftop as a space for expression and to raise their profiles, the teams at Le Sucre also support the professionalisation of these collectives by informing them about legal issues in the cultural sector.
Creative residencies
Since 2020, in an effort to foster greater diversity in the French electronic culture domain, Le Sucre has been offering DJing classes for women run by the professional DJs who regularly play at the club.
This training cycle aims to help the participating women to take control of their artistic destinies by overcoming social accessibility issues related to the practice of DJing and to the continued male domination of the scene.
The end-of-course target is to be able to perform “in real conditions” at one of our events, whether held at Le Sucre or elsewhere in the ecosystem.

Dans une volonté d’encourager la diversité dans la sphère culturelle électronique française, Le Sucre propose depuis 2020 des cours de DJing en direction des publics féminins et encadrés par des DJs professionnel·les habitué·es du club.
Ce cycle de formation tend à rendre autonomes les participantes dans la construction de leurs parcours artistiques en leur donnant les capacités de surmonter des problématiques d’accessibilité sociale liées à la pratique du DJing et à la scène actuelle encore très masculine.
L’objectif à l’issue de la formation est de pouvoir proposer une prestation « en conditions réelles » sur l’un de nos événements, au Sucre ou dans notre écosystème élargi.
